Overall this is a nice hotel, but definitely had some issues staying here. It's very dark inside and our car that we paid valet parking for was left outside overnight, which is concerning given theft in the area. The amenities in the room weren't great (including an old TV with movies you have to rent), and the food at the restaurant had few vegetarian options and really no options friendly for pregnant women. The hotel is beautiful and we enjoyed the view, but overall would not stay here again.
Not impressed with the property, service or location.
The property is dark, cavernous, and a bit suffocating - the counter point being a folkloric colorful decoration that feels mismatched considering the entrance is flanked by two dry trees.
I was asked by the hotel when I would arrive and despite providing them with this information, the room was not ready when we arrived - to make matters worse, there were at least the other guests waiting to checking as well. We all had to wait between 40 minutes to 1.5 hours to finally get in the room.
The location is uneventful. There are several hotels with a similar panoramic view - nothing remarkable.
The breakfast team was quite annoying hovering above guests. I felt some guests could not eat in peace.
Overall, this hotel is average with some bad quality motifs.
One of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed in. From the moment you check in, the service is warm and impeccable. The entire staff are so friendly and professional. Our room was breathtakingly designed, down to every last detail. The views of the River Douro are stunning. After the DELICIOUS buffet breakfast (we were addicted) you can lay out for hours by the infinity pool overlooking the city and the river, lost in sensory bliss. Just don’t forget at some point to leave the hotel and see Porto!
A SPECIAL MENTION to the ladies at the Calla Spa. This was by the far the best hotel spa I have experienced. So kind and superb at what they do. I arrived with a painful lower back and after two sessions with physiotherapist extraordinaire Angela I was fully mobile again! The couples’ massage was also gorgeous and amazing. Do not miss the spa! They are miracle-workers down there.
This hotel is STUNNING. The lobby, bar, pool, and our room (Virginia Woolf) was incredible!!! I almost cried at how beautiful the views from the room were. The staff was so helpful with anything we needed from arrival to departure. Great location and tasty food. This hotel really made our trip THAT MUCH BETTER!
